Under the Canopy (Y3.2)

Inspired by the surrounding greenery of 450 Piccadilly, the project reinteprets the structure of trees to create a layered indoor landscape that supports mental wellness, social interaction and work-life balance. Structural columns act as vertical “trunks” supporting elevated platforms that branch into key programs including co-working spaces and a yoga studio. Curved forms and circular platforms soften the environment and encourage seamless circulation throughout the space. Semi-enclosed lounge partitions and curved timber slatted screens around the cafe seating provide moments of privacy and comfort while maintaining visual openness, reflecting the filtered shelter of a tree canopy. Natural materials and warm neutral tones extend the presence of the surrounding landscape into the interiors, creating a restorative space where users can transition between productivity and relaxation.
